分詞構文とは？

ある行為や動作についてさらに述べたり、文全体の内容に付け加えたりする。

 

分詞構文 – 主節の文の内容に付け加える文。

分詞

現在分詞（～している）-ing

過去分詞（～されている）-ed

 

分詞構文が表す意味

①付帯状況を表す（〜しながら）              

②時を表す（〜する時に、〜している時に）　                  

③連続した動作や出来事を表す　（〜して、それから… する）             

④原因・理由を表す(〜なので、だから）             

 

 

①時 (when, while) 

Seeing the pictures, I remember my childhood. 

(その写真を見ると、子供時代を思い出します。）

➔書き換え

When I see the pictures, I remember my childhood. 

～～～

Playing soccer, he hurt his leg. 

(サッカーをしていて、彼は足を怪我しました。）

➔書き換え

While he was playing soccer, he hurt his leg. 

 

②原因・理由(because, since, as)

Being tired, I went to bed early. 

（疲れていたので、私は、早く寝ました。）

➔書き換え

Because I was tired, I went to bed early.

Not having time, I didn’t read the newspaper this morning. 

(時間がなかったので、私は、今朝新聞を読みませんでした。）

➔書き換え

Since I didn’t have time, I didn’t read the newspaper this morning. 

 

③譲歩（although/ though)

Living near my house, he seldom comes to see me.

(私の家の近くに住んでいるのに、彼はめったに私に会いに来ない。）

➔書き換え

Although he lives near my house, he seldom comes to see me. 

 

④条件（if) 

Turning to the left, you will see the café. 

(左に曲がると、カフェが見えますよ。）

➔書き換え

If you turn to the left, you will see the café. 

 

⑤付帯状況（and)

Smiling brightly, she extended her hand to me.

（明るく微笑みながら、彼女は私に手を伸ばしました。）

➔書き換え

She smiled brightly, and she extended her hand to me.

Walking around the city, I took many pictures. 

（街を歩き回りながら、たくさんの写真を撮りました。）

➔I walked around the city, and I took many pictures.
