Whether （発音は、weather （天気）と同じ）

接続詞：～かどうか

I asked him whether he likes coffee (or not).

(コーヒーが好きかどうか彼に尋ねた。)

＊最後のor notは省略されることも多い。

＊If にも書き換えが可能で。ifの方が口語的。

I asked him if he likes coffee or not.

Whetherがifに書き換えできない時↓

1.Whether + to動詞

You have to decide whether to go or not.

(あなたは、行くか行かないか決めなければならない。)

2.Whether or not

All I want to know is whether or not you are interested in this project.
（私が知りたいことは、あなたはこのプロジェクトに興味があるかどうかだけです。）

3.前置詞の後にwhetherが来る場合

We must consider the question of whether it can generate any profit for us.

（私たちは、それがなんらかの利益を生み出すことができるかという質問を考慮しなければならない。）
