「私は日本に住んでいます。」の《日本に》や
「スマホが机の上にあります。」の《机の上に》や
「壁に絵がかかっています。」の《壁に》
「図書館で本を借りました。」の《図書館で》
などの場所を表す場合、場所を表す名詞の前に前置詞が必要です。
今回は場所を表す前置詞の at on in を見ていきましょう。
(home や there のように副詞の場合は、前置詞が必要ないので注意！）

場所を表す前置詞の使い方
◆範囲が広い場合や境目のある空間、境界線のある場所「～の中」は【in】を使います。
例：
in Japan (日本に/で）in +国
in Tokyo (東京に/で）in + 都道府県、市町村
I live in Japan. / I live in Tokyo.
私は日本に住んでいます。/ 私は東京に住んでいます。
in the room (部屋で）in + 部屋・建物（の中）
My cats were sleeping in my room.
猫は私の部屋で寝ていました。
◆何かの表面上接してにある・いる場合【on】を使います。
例：
on the wall (壁（の表面上に）かかっている）on + 表面
I like the beautiful painting on the wall.
壁にかかっている美しい絵画が好きです。
on the beach (ビーチ・浜辺で）on + 場所（表面）
They are lying on the beach.
彼らは浜辺で横になっています。
◆場所を点でとらえて、その辺りにある・いる場合【at】を使います。
例：
at the station (駅で）at + 場所（点と見る時）
He sings at the train station every day.
彼は毎日駅で歌います。
at the bus stop (バス停で）at + 地点
I saw my teacher standing at the bus stop.
私は先生がバス停で立っているのを見ました。
